ANGELIKI KANDYLI

Medical administrative assistant

Angeliki Kandyli is a graduate of the Department of Political Sciences of the Democritus University of Thrace. In 2021 she completed her master's degree in Health Economics and Management at the University of Piraeus. She has been working as a Medical Administrative Assistant in our office since October 2019.

PETRIDOU DIMITRA

Medical administrative assistant

Her versatile activity led her to the field of healthcare after studying English and American literature. With many years of experience in the management of surgical patients and further training at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, she is a valuable addition to the team of the 1st Surgery Clinic of the Hygeia hospital.

ANTA MATHIOULAKI, MD

General surgeon

Antonia Mathioulaki received her medical degree in 2006 from the University of Crete, where she studied on a scholarship. After completing her rural practice at the Perama Health Center of Rethymnon, she specialized in General Surgery at the First Surgery Clinic and Laparoscopic Surgery Unit at the Korgialeneio-Benakio General Hospital of Athens (NEES). She obtained the title of Speciality in Surgery in 2015. During the residency she was trained in the whole spectrum of General Surgery and especially in Surgery of the Digestive System. She is ACLS and ATLS certified and retrained in the DaVinci robotic system and in October 2019 was declared a member of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). In 2015, she started a fellowship/retraining at the General, Bariatric, Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery Clinic of the Athens Medical Center where she worked as an associate surgeon until 2018. Since 2018, she is the supervisor of the First Surgery Clinic of Hygeia Hospital.

MICHALIS EMMANOUILIDIS MD, MSc

Emmanuilidis Michalis, after completing his medical studies with a scholarship, retrained at the General, Bariatric, Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery Clinic of the Athens Medical Center. He completed his rural practice at the General Hospital of Rhodes - Karpathos Health Center as well as his military service as an army doctor. He specialized in General Surgery at the General Hospital of Athens "Sismanoglio" and holds a Master of Science from the Medical School of Athens with the title: "Neoplastic Disease in Man: Diagnosis, Modern Treatment and Research".

ORESTIS LYROS

Orestis Lyros received his medical degree in 2006 from the medical school of the University of Athens, where he studied with a series of scholarships. After receiving his medical degree, he went to the University Hospital of Mainz in Germany with a scholarship from the European Society for Medical Oncology – ESMO to prepare a doctoral thesis in digestive oncology, which he successfully completed in 2010. He specialized in General Surgery at the University Surgery Clinics of Mainz and Leipzig in Germany from 2008 to 2016, while from 2011 to 2013 he completed postdoctoral studies (Postdoctoral Fellowship) on upper digestive cancer at the Medical College of Milwaukee (Medical College of Wisconsin) of the USA. He obtained the title of Specialist in Surgery in 2017. As a curator at the Department of Surgery of the University of Leipzig from 2017 to the present, he specialized in minimally invasive surgery, surgical digestive oncology as well as morbid obesity surgery (Reference center for bariatric surgery in Germany) . In 2019, he received the "European Diploma in Minimally Invasive Surgery" (EBSQ in Minimally Invasive Surgery) of the UEMS. Alongside his clinical work, he highlighted his writing, teaching, and research work with publications in prestigious international journals. Therefore, and after preparing a thesis "on Habilitation", he was named in 2019 as a Lecturer - Associate Professor of Surgery (Privatdozent) of the Medical School of the University of Leipzig, Germany. In 2020, he retrained with a fellowship from the European Society for Surgical Oncology (ESSO – European Society for Surgical Oncology) in surgical oncology of the upper digestive tract and stomach. He is now surgically active in Greece as well, while in Germany he continues to maintain the position of Superintendent Surgeon and Associate Professor of Surgery with both clinical and educational presence on a monthly basis.

IOSIFINA GIANNAKIKOU, M.D.

ANESTHESIOLOGY, INTENSITIVIST

Iosifina Giannakikou received her medical degree from Guy's University and St. Thomas Medical and Dental Schools, King's College, London, UK from graduating with Distinction/Honours. After completing General Pathology at the Hospital of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, United States, she specialized in anesthesiology at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital, Baltimore, USA. During her training, she specialized in the anesthesia of patients with increased anesthetic needs (Critical Care Anesthesia). She then completed the subspecialty of the Intensive Care Unit, also at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in the USA. Iosifina Giannakikou is certified by the American Boards of Anesthesiology and also by the American Boards of Critical Care Medicine. She works as an anesthesiologist in private hospitals in Athens and continues to be an active member of the Johns Hopkins University Hospital as an anesthesiologist and intensivist.

KALLIOPE PANAGIOTOU

ANESTHETIST

Kalliopi Panagiotou received her medical degree from Semmelweis Medical University. She specialized in Anesthesiology at the General Hospital of Rhodes and then at NIMTS. During her specialty, she was trained in the ICU of the General Hospital of Attica, KAT, as well as in the Pain Management Clinic of the Aretaio Hospital. She has been an exclusive partner at HYGEIA Hospital since 2013 with great expertise in robotic surgical cases as well as in laparoscopic, endoscopic, minimal invasive and one-day surgery cases. Finally, she is constantly informed about the latest developments in the scientific events of Anesthesiology through seminars and conferences.
